Happy Holidays!
I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season!
The offices of KevinCollington.com will be closed for the holiday season…and by ‘offices’ I mean I’m going to stop going to Panera to get internet on my computer to update my blog.
So thanks again for reading and I’ll see you in 2009!
I’ll leave you with some pics from the early season that I never got to put up since I started writing in April. Enjoy!

In ViƱa del Mar, Chile in January. I guess it’s normal to take up a lane of traffic on a major road with a luggage cart.

Goats at the airport in Nevis.

Coming out of the water in Nevis with Chrabot.

New Plymouth, New Zealand. What an amazing place.

The wind wand in New Plymouth – it blows in whatever direction the wind blows.

The TriGators and Hunter Kemper at Collegiate Nationals (Olympic Trials was the same day as Coll Nats).

Richie Cunningham destroying me in a sprint for 5th at St. Anthony’s.
A Few Pics From Pac Grove
Here are a few pics from Pac Grove:

The swim course – lots of kelp to get caught in!

Victor Plata giving his victory speech. From left to right: Kevin Everett (9th), John Dahlz (7th), me (5th), Callum Millward (3rd), Victor, Joe Umphenour (2nd), Brian Fleischmann (4th), Brian Lavelle (6th)
Junior Nats
In what was probably the most exciting thing to happen here in Colorado Springs since my arrival about a month ago, the Junior and Youth National Triathlon Championships took place yesterday over in Prospect Lake Park (a quick 15 minute walk from the training center). “Junior” in triathlon is defined as athletes aged 16-19 and “youth” is 13-15. I took some sweet pics. Check ‘em out! Click here to read about the race:
Junior and Youth National Champs Article

In the junior women’s race, Lauren Goldstein-Kral led the majority of the race after leading out the swim and riding the entire 20K bike by herself.

Kate Ross took the lead about 2K into the 5K run and went on to win.

Kate, about to win.

In the junior men’s race, Ben Kanute led the swim, rode away from everyone on the bike and cruised to a victory.

Ben Steavenson, my roommate at last year’s Hamburg World Champs, took second with the fastest run of the day.

Shayne Murphy and Nicolas Tautiva. Go USAT Florida!

Manny, me, and Steve before the swim start.

The top 20 athletes got called to the stage at the party on Sunday night. This is the women’s top 20.

Our FISU World University Championship team…if you look 3 people from the left you’ll see Justine Whipple, World University Champion!
Alcatraz Pics

I got interviewed before the race by IMG – they produce the race coverage that will air on NBC later in the year. My question for the interviewer beforehand: Are you sure you want to interview me?! With a tenth place finish I might have some air time in the race coverage – they especially liked it when I said I don’t do so well in cold water.

The infamous sand stairs. These come at mile 5 of the run but they’re not as bad as people say they are.

Post race dinner!

And dessert – a Ghirardelli Ice Cream Sundae. I would have gotten my own by my friend Kristin (left) wouldn’t let me.
